EU Approves 110 Million Euros for Stabilization Efforts in Somalia.
The EU is throwing 110 million euros at
Somalia to fend off al-Shabab terrorists.
90 million will be tossed towards the African
Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) while the Somali National Army
(SNA) gets a "modest" 26.6 million dollars.
This move is all in the name of giving
ATMIS the boot and allowing SNA to step up their security game.
Most of the money will go towards African
soldiers' allowances, with the SNA getting some non-lethal equipment and
infrastructure works, all thanks to the European Training Mission in Somalia
(EUTM-S).
