Leghorn: A lightweight breed that is highly regarded for its egg-laying ability, producing around 280-320 white eggs per year. They are active and can be flighty.

 

Plymouth Rock: A dual-purpose breed that is docile and cold-hardy, making it a good choice for backyard flocks. They are known for their brown eggs and good meat quality.

 

Sussex: A hardy breed that is adaptable to different climates and good for free-ranging. They are known for their friendly personality and ability to lay around 250-300 brown eggs per year.

 

Cornish Cross: A hybrid breed that is commonly used in commercial meat production due to its fast growth rate and good meat quality. They have a docile temperament but can have health issues due to their rapid growth.

 

Silkie: An ornamental breed that is known for its fluffy appearance, brooding abilities, and gentle nature. They lay a small number of small white eggs.

 

Orpington: A large and docile breed that is often used for meat production. They have a soft feathering and lay around 175-200 brown eggs per year.

 

Wyandotte: A dual-purpose breed that is cold-hardy and known for its attractive laced feathers. They have a docile temperament and lay around 200-220 brown eggs per year.

 

Ameraucana: A breed known for its blue or green eggs and friendly personality. They come in a variety of colors and lay around 200 blue or green eggs per year.

 

Brahma: A large breed that is often used for meat production. They have a docile temperament, feathered feet, and lay a small number of large brown eggs.

Final List of Presidential Candidates Announced.

KAMPALA, UGANDA - The Electoral Commission has completed the process of nominating presidential candidates for the upcoming 2026 general elections. The two-day event took place on September 23rd and 24th at the EC grounds in Lweza. A total of eight candidates were officially nominated to run for president. On the first day, three candidates were approved:  * President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the NRM party.  * Kasibante Robert of the NPP party.  * Mabirizi Joseph of the CP party. On the second day, five more candidates were nominated:  * Nandala Mafabi James Nathan of the FDC party.  * Mugisha Gregory Muntu Oyera of the ANT party.  * Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu of the NUP party.  * Munyagwa Mubarak Sserunga of the CMP party.  * Bulira Frank Kabinga of the RPP party. Uganda's Army Chief Meets UN Peacekeeping Commander

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Uganda's army, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, met with the top military leader of the UN peacekeeping force in Congo (DRC) this Saturday. The UN leader was Lt Gen Ulisses De Mesquita Gomes, the Force Commander for MONUSCO. The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe. The main topic was how to improve security cooperation in the eastern part of the DRC. Uganda's army (UPDF) is already working there to fight the ADF and other terrorist groups. This operation is called Operation Shujaa and is done with the Congolese army (FARDC). The MONUSCO Force Commander praised the UPDF for helping bring peace to the region, especially Eastern DRC. He said he wants closer cooperation and coordination, including sharing information (intelligence).
