Christian Atsu's remains brought home after devastating earthquake.

The tragic death of former Ghanaian football star, Christian Atsu, who lost his life in a powerful earthquake in Turkey, has brought sorrow to his family and the wider football community.

Atsu, who played for Chelsea and Newcastle, was caught up in the 7.8-magnitude quake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6th, killing over 44,000 people in the region.

Although early reports suggested he had been rescued, these turned out to be false, and his body was recovered on Saturday.

The remains of the beloved athlete were flown back to his home country on Sunday, accompanied by family members and Ghana's ambassador to Turkey on a Turkish Airlines flight.

Atsu's widow and children paid tribute to him at Newcastle's Premier League match against Liverpool on Saturday.
