Asamoah Gyan, Ghanaian Football Icon, Announces Retirement After 20-Year Career.

 


Asamoah Gyan, the renowned Ghanaian footballer, has declared his retirement from the sport after an illustrious professional career spanning over two decades. The 38-year-old, who earned 109 caps for Ghana from 2003 to 2019, made the announcement during a panel discussion at the African Export-Import Bank's annual general meeting.

Addressing his nation and fans, Gyan officially confirmed his retirement, marking the end of a remarkable journey. Recently, he served as a striker for Legon Cities, a team in the Ghana Premier League, and previously held the prestigious role of captain in Ghana's national team.

Gyan's football odyssey commenced at the local club Liberty Professionals and led him to prominent clubs such as Modena and Udinese in Italy, Rennes in the French Ligue 1, and Sunderland in the English Premier League. He also showcased his skills at Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates and Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League.
