Rev. Barnabas Tibaijuka elected as 1st Bishop of West Ruwenzori Diocese.

 


In a recent announcement made by the House of Bishops, Rev. Barnabas Tibaijuka has been elected as the first Bishop of West Ruwenzori Diocese, with his consecration and enthronement set to take place on August 27th, 2023 in Bundibugyo. 

Rev. Barnabas was born in Butungama, Bundibugyo District, on May 8th, 1975, and became a born-again Christian during an open-air crusade in April 1994. 

He holds a Master's degree from Mountains of the Moon University in Fort Portal, and a Bachelor of Divinity from Uganda Christian University in Mukono, having been ordained as a deacon in 2010 and a priest in 2011. 

His previous roles include classroom teacher, head teacher, and catechist, and he has also served as the Diocesan Youth Worker and Vicar of several parishes within the Ruwenzori Diocese. 

With a passion for translating the Bible into Lubwisi and teaching at Bishop Balya College, Rev. Barnabas is a respected member of the Diocesan Synod and Vice Chairperson for the House of Clergy in the Ruwenzori Diocese.
