Lionel Messi Set to Debut for Inter Miami in Leagues Cup Clash Against Cruz Azul on July 21.

Inter Miami's co-owner Jorge Mas confirmed that Lionel Messi is expected to make his first appearance for the club in a Leagues Cup match against Cruz Azul on July 21. The announcement follows Messi's recent departure from Paris Saint-Germain to join the Florida-based team, which is co-owned by former England captain David Beckham.

The match will take place at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, which is currently undergoing renovations to enhance capacity and security. Reports suggest that Messi has agreed to a two-and-a-half year contract, with the option to extend for an additional season, earning an estimated annual salary between 50 and 60 million U.S. dollars.

Mas clarified that no changes will be made to the roster rules to accommodate Messi, and he anticipates that the arrival of the World Cup winner will have a transformative impact on football in the United States.

In other news, Inter Miami is reportedly in discussions with former Barcelona and Argentina national team manager Gerardo Martino to become the team's new head coach. Talks are also underway with midfielder Sergio Busquets, Messi's former Barcelona teammate, who recently became a free agent.
