President Museveni was happy to officially open the new Aga Khan University in Nakawa, a project that cost $23.8 million. He also started the construction of the Aga Khan Teaching Hospital.
The President thanked His Highness the Aga Khan and the Aga Khan Development Agency for their important investments in Uganda. The government provided the land for the new university and hospital.
President Museveni said the government will continue to make laws that protect investors and help businesses grow. He talked about a time in the past when the private sector was not well understood, and some properties were taken over. He said this was a mistake and that the government has now fixed its relationship with private businesses, including the Aga Khan.
He also remembered the late Aga Khan IV, who was honored in 2017 for his great work in Uganda. The President also thanked His Highness Aga Khan V and Princess Zahra for their contributions to the country.
