The government has started training new health workers in eight districts. These special workers are called Community Health Extension Workers, or CHEWs.
The districts are: Bukedea, Bunyangabu, Kakumiro, Kalungu, Kassanda, Kisoro, Mbale, and Mitooma.
After their training, these CHEWs will get important tools to help people in their communities. Each worker will get:
* A bicycle to help them travel easily.
* A smartphone or tablet to collect and share health information.
* A blood pressure machine to check blood pressure.
* A glucometer to check blood sugar levels.
* A MUAC tape to check for nutrition problems.
* Gum boots and a jacket so people can easily know who they are.
This training and equipment is part of the government's plan to make health services better in every parish. It shows the government is serious about improving health right where people live.
