LUZIRA — Maroons Football Club bounced back in style today, crushing Lugazi FC with a dominant 3–0 victory in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. The match was played at the Maroons Stadium in Luzira. KAMPALA — Famous Kampala socialite Bryan Kirumira, also known as Bryan White, was brought to the Makindye Chief Magistrate's Court today to face serious charges. The ailing socialite was wheeled into the court chambers because of his health condition. Kirumira is accused of human sacrifice and manslaughter (causing the death of a person) following the death of a 25-year-old woman at his home. During the court hearing, the Chief Magistrate, Ms. Sarah Basemera, made the decision to block journalists from seeing what was happening. She locked herself in her chambers with Mr. Kirumira, some police officers, and the father of the deceased woman. This means the proceedings were kept private and away from public view.   KAMPALA — The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) has reported a major power interruption this morning after several electricity towers collapsed due to suspected vandalism. The incident happened at 3:02 AM and has stopped the flow of power to the Mukono North substation, affecting supply to parts of the area. Tragically, UETCL has confirmed that one person has died in connection with the incident. The Uganda Police Force has started a full investigation. UETCL quickly sent a team to the site to check the damage and plans to restore power as fast as possible. UETCL strongly warned the public that destroying power infrastructure is extremely dangerous. "Vandalism not only stops power but is also a danger to human life," the company said in a statement. The public is asked to be watchful. The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Uganda's army, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, met with the top military leader of the UN peacekeeping force in Congo (DRC) this Saturday. The UN leader was Lt Gen Ulisses De Mesquita Gomes, the Force Commander for MONUSCO. The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe. The main topic was how to improve security cooperation in the eastern part of the DRC. Uganda's army (UPDF) is already working there to fight the ADF and other terrorist groups. This operation is called Operation Shujaa and is done with the Congolese army (FARDC). The MONUSCO Force Commander praised the UPDF for helping bring peace to the region, especially Eastern DRC. The Mukono Diocese Cathedral Marathon Run was a big success over the weekend. The event brought together many Christians and well-wishers to collect money for building the new diocesan cathedral. More than 5,000 people took part in the run. This made it one of the largest community events the diocese has ever held. The leader of the diocese, Bishop Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, started this initiative. The goal is to raise enough money to finish the new church, which is expected to cost about UGX 9 billion (Uganda Shillings). The Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) took a big step in training its staff by graduating 58 officers. They finished the fourth class of the Prisons Intermediate Command and Staff Course. Phiona Nyamutoro, who is a State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, is about to win a Parliament seat easily. The Electoral Commission (EC) will announce her as the new Woman Member of Parliament for Nebbi District on November 17, 2025. Bryan Kirumira, a well-known socialite also called Bryan White, was sent back to the hospital on Friday. This happened after he came to the Makindye Chief Magistrates Court looking very sick. Too Sick for Court Kirumira was the main person named in a serious court case. The charges are about human sacrifice and killing a 25-year-old woman named Carol Nalubwama. But Bryan White was in so much pain that the court could not go on. He was carried into the room on a mattress and was crying. Both of his feet were heavily bandaged. Magistrate's Order The judge, Grade One Magistrate Lorna Patience Kukundane, saw his condition and quickly stopped the court session. “We are unable to read the charges. Take this man back to hospital,” the Magistrate ordered. Prison officers then lifted Kirumira and carried him away. He was too sick to have the charges read to him or to say if he was guilty or not. Only the people charged with him had their charges formally read out.
