Mukono Diocese Holds Huge Charity Run

The Mukono Diocese Cathedral Marathon Run was a big success over the weekend. The event brought together many Christians and well-wishers to collect money for building the new diocesan cathedral.

More than 5,000 people took part in the run. This made it one of the largest community events the diocese has ever held.

The leader of the diocese, Bishop Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, started this initiative. The goal is to raise enough money to finish the new church, which is expected to cost about UGX 9 billion (Uganda Shillings). The run itself raised over UGX 200 million.

Bishop Kagodo asked every family member in the diocese to support the '20K Initiative'. This asks each person to give UGX 20,000 towards the construction. He said the new cathedral will be a sign of faith, unity, and thanks to God.

During the event, the diocese asked the Mukono District Health Department to set up a Health Camp.

A health team, led by Dr. Stephen Mulindwa, offered free medical services. This allowed many runners and community members to check their health. Four ambulances, nurses, and first-aid teams were also available to help anyone who needed it.

Many political and community leaders attended the run to show their support. These included the Minister of State for Finance, Hon. Amos Lugoloobi, and the Mukono District Chairperson, Hon. Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa, among others. Police and security officials also helped manage the event safely.

The Cathedral Run successfully brought together the church, district leaders, and politicians for one shared goal: to build a lasting place of worship for Mukono Diocese.
