Power Outage Hits Mukono After Tower Collapse, Vandalism Suspected

KAMPALA — The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) has reported a major power interruption this morning after several electricity towers collapsed due to suspected vandalism.

The incident happened at 3:02 AM and has stopped the flow of power to the Mukono North substation, affecting supply to parts of the area.

Tragically, UETCL has confirmed that one person has died in connection with the incident. The Uganda Police Force has started a full investigation.

UETCL quickly sent a team to the site to check the damage and plans to restore power as fast as possible.

UETCL strongly warned the public that destroying power infrastructure is extremely dangerous. "Vandalism not only stops power but is also a danger to human life," the company said in a statement.

The public is asked to be watchful. If you see anyone suspicious near electricity towers, please report them immediately to the nearest police station.
