MP Petitions EC to Remove Six Rivals from 2026 Race

A Member of Parliament (MP) for Kitagwenda County, Joseph Byamukama, has formally asked the Electoral Commission (EC) to disqualify six people planning to run against him in the 2026 elections.

The MP filed his petitions on November 13, 2025, claiming that the rivals broke several election rules when they submitted their forms.

The petitions target six people, including: Agaba Abbas Mugisha, Spencer George William, Arinaitwe Emmanuel, Nsamba Mubarak, and Arinaitwe Africano (the information provided lists five names, but specifies six aspirants were petitioned against).



The allegations made against these aspirants include:

  • Wrong Names: Using names that do not match on different documents, or improperly changing names. For example, the petition specifically mentions that Agaba Abbas Mugisha allegedly used inconsistent names.

  • Fake Papers: Submitting invalid or incorrect academic certificates.

  • Not Resigning: Failing to officially quit their government jobs (public offices) before seeking to run for Parliament, which is a legal requirement.

The Electoral Commission will now have to review the MP's evidence and decide whether to remove any of the six aspirants from the upcoming election race.

Last Call: Today is Final Day for UNEB Exam Registration.

Kampala, Uganda – Heads of primary and secondary schools are reminded that today, July 31, 2025, is the final day to register students for this year's national exams. This is the last chance for schools to register candidates for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). After today, all school online systems for registration will be closed. The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) will not accept any more registration information for candidates taking exams this year.
