Katikkiro Urges Public to Collect National IDs for Better Planning.

MENGO – The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called upon all of the Kabaka’s subjects to take national registration seriously and collect their National IDs.

The Katikkiro made these remarks today at Bulange, Mengo, during a meeting with officials from the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA). The officials visited the Kingdom headquarters to deliver National IDs to several high-ranking Buganda officials, including the Katikkiro himself.

Katikkiro Mayiga emphasized that having a National ID is not just about identification; it is a vital tool for the country's growth. He explained that registration is important because:

  • Accurate Data: It helps the government know the exact number of people in the country.

  • Better Planning: With the right statistics, the government can plan effectively for schools, hospitals, and roads.

  • Service Delivery: It ensures that government services reach the right people in the right places.

  • National Development: It is a key step in moving the country forward.

The Katikkiro encouraged everyone who has not yet registered or collected their cards to do so immediately. He noted that being part of the national database ensures that no one is left behind when the government is distributing resources or planning for the future.

The NIRA officials thanked the Buganda Kingdom for its support in promoting government programs and urged the public to follow the Katikkiro’s example.
