IGG Rewards Exceptional Law Student Lillian Binoga at LDC Graduation

KAMPALA — The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, has honored Ms. Lillian Binoga for her excellent performance in Trial Advocacy at the Law Development Centre (LDC).

The award was given out during LDC’s 53rd graduation ceremony, where more than 1,500 students received their qualifications.

Ms. Binoga scored an outstanding 90 percent in Trial Advocacy on the Bar Course for the 2024/2025 academic year. To celebrate her hard work, she received a beautiful plaque and a cash prize.

Because the IGG could not attend in person, the award was presented on her behalf by Ms. Hilda Talibba, the Director of Legal Affairs at the Inspectorate of Government (IG).

This annual award is part of a long partnership between the IG and LDC. The goal of this partnership is to train skilled lawyers who respect the constitution, support justice, and follow the rule of law.

By rewarding top students, the IG aims to promote transparency and accountability in Uganda's legal system. Both institutions continue to work together to train legal professionals who will defend the rights of all Ugandans.

Uganda's Army Chief Meets UN Peacekeeping Commander

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Uganda's army, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, met with the top military leader of the UN peacekeeping force in Congo (DRC) this Saturday. The UN leader was Lt Gen Ulisses De Mesquita Gomes, the Force Commander for MONUSCO. The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe. The main topic was how to improve security cooperation in the eastern part of the DRC. Uganda's army (UPDF) is already working there to fight the ADF and other terrorist groups. This operation is called Operation Shujaa and is done with the Congolese army (FARDC). The MONUSCO Force Commander praised the UPDF for helping bring peace to the region, especially Eastern DRC. He said he wants closer cooperation and coordination, including sharing information (intelligence). Muslim MPs Visit Kibuli Mosque, Urge Unity Across Political Parties

  KAMPALA — Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Muslim Parliamentary Caucus visited the Kibuli Mosque today for Friday Juma prayers. The lawmakers attended the prayers following an invitation from Prince Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu, the traditional leader of the Muslim community in Uganda. After the prayers, the Prince hosted the MPs for a lunch gathering. During the visit, Prince Nakibinge made a strong appeal to the politicians. He urged them to look past their political parties when making laws for the country. Instead, he told them to focus on the things that bring the people of Uganda together.
