State Minister for ICT visits UICT Nakawa.

KAMPALA, July 31, 2026 — The State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Alioni Yorke Odria, visited the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) in Nakawa today for a familiarization tour.

During the visit, the Minister checked on several ongoing construction and renovation projects. These include upgrades to the institute's main Administration Block, the Library, and the Accounts Office, which aim to improve services for students and staff.



Hon. Alioni also explored UICT's modern teaching facilities. He visited The Augmented and Virtual Reality (AVR) Lab: The Minister put on special gear to experience interactive, 3D learning firsthand.

The Electronics and Electricals Lab: A facility where students get practical training in modern engineering.

Smart Classrooms: Upgraded learning spaces equipped with digital technology.

To wrap up his visit, the Minister toured the National ICT Innovation Hub, located inside the institute. The hub works as a business incubator, helping young technology innovators turn their digital ideas into real-world products and businesses.

The tour highlighted UICT’s growing role in training Uganda's next generation of tech experts and pushing the country toward a more digital future.
