Former UPPC employees charged with causing financial loss and conspiracy.

 


Five former employees of the Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) have been charged with causing financial loss and other related conspiracies, according to the Directorate of CID. 

The suspects, including the former Managing Director Prof. Wasswa Tom Davis, are accused of embezzling Ugx 2.2 billion ($610,000) out of the Ugx 15.1 billion ($4.2 million) transferred to the UPPC by the Electoral Commission for the printing and publishing of materials for the 2020/21 General Elections. 

Kasekende Mujjuzi Arstraco, former Finance Manager; Kigonya Robert, former Sales Executive Manager; Ahimbisibwe John Baptist, Accountant; and Ayebare Catherine, Assistant Accountant, have also been charged. The authorities are still searching for three other suspects who are wanted in connection with the case.
