Kira Police Arrest Suspected Notorious Robber.

​ KIRA, Uganda — The Police in Kira Division have arrested a man suspected of being a well-known criminal in the area. ​The suspect, identified as James Lumu , is linked to a series of robberies in Kyaliwajjala and nearby neighborhoods. ​The arrest comes after a recent robbery that happened on June 16, 2026, at around 8:00 PM. The incident took place in Nabwojjo, Kyaliwajjala B Zone. ​According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the police spokesperson, the victim was Daniel Tenywa, a 23-year-old man living in Kiwanga, Mukono District. The criminals attacked Tenywa with a heavy, blunt object and stole his mobile phone. ​Following the attack, police started an investigation which led them to Lumu. He is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Police Arrest Key Suspect in Death of Rugby Star Sydney Gongodyo.

Police have arrested a key suspect who is believed to have played a major role in the killing of popular rugby player Sydney Gongodyo. This new arrest brings the total number of suspects in custody to nine. Sydney Gongodyo, a 27-year-old player for the Stanbic Black Pirates rugby club, died last Friday after being severely beaten by an angry crowd. The tragic incident happened around 2:00 PM in a suburb of Kampala. According to local reports, a thief stole a woman's handbag and escaped on a motorcycle. When the woman screamed for help, a crowd gathered. Family members say the crowd mistakenly blamed Gongodyo for the theft. Even though he pleaded that he was innocent, the group attacked and stabbed him. Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and took Gongodyo to Mulago Hospital, but he died from his injuries later that evening. Police Officers Receive 2,000 Chicks to Help Families

  KAMPALA – The Uganda Police Force has given out 2,000 chicks to police officers and their families in the Busoga East and Albertine South regions. The goal of this project is to help police families earn more money and learn how to take care of themselves. By raising these chicks, families can sell eggs or meat to get extra income. SSP Ochaki Godwin, the Head of Production from the Police Headquarters in Naguru, led the distribution. He explained that this is part of a plan to make sure police families live better lives. This initiative is one of many programs by the Directorate of Welfare, Production, and Sports to support the livelihoods of police officers across the country.

12 Hospitalized After Highway Bus Crash in Luwero.

Luwero District, Uganda – A peaceful morning turned into chaos today, December 16, 2025, when a major bus accident happened on the Kampala–Gulu Highway at a place called Kakinzi. The accident involved a large Zawadi bus that was carrying sixty-five (65) people. Emergency teams, including the Uganda Red Cross and the Luwero District ambulance, rushed to the scene around 9:40 AM. When they arrived, they found a challenging situation: a large crowd had gathered, and heavy traffic made it hard for rescuers to reach the injured quickly. The Toll of the Accident In total, twelve people were injured in the crash. Thankfully, no lives were lost at the scene. Tororo, Uganda – Police in Tororo District have arrested a man named Loketo Musa in connection with the murder of a Kenyan woman. The suspect, a resident of Malaba North Cell in Malaba Town Council, was caught with the help of a highly trained police dog named "Vegas." The incident began on the morning of December 8, 2025. Around 6:00 AM, residents of Malaba North Cell were shocked to find the lifeless body of a woman lying in a pool of blood. The victim was later identified as Rehema, a national from Bungoma, Kenya. The Electoral Commission (EC) has raised a serious concern about recent clashes involving some election candidates, their teams, and the police. Condemnation of Friday's Violence The EC specifically and strongly condemned the violent events that happened on Friday, November 28, 2025. These clashes tragically led to the death of one person and injuries to several others. The Commission stated that such violence is completely unhelpful to the country's democratic process. This violence is described as "unfortunate and regrettable" because, overall, the election campaign has been largely peaceful across the nation. Over 83,000 candidates are running for more than 45,000 positions, from local council members up to the President. Socialite Bryan White Arraigned in Court for Human Sacrifice and Manslaughter.

KAMPALA — Famous Kampala socialite Bryan Kirumira, also known as Bryan White, was brought to the Makindye Chief Magistrate's Court today to face serious charges. The ailing socialite was wheeled into the court chambers because of his health condition. Kirumira is accused of human sacrifice and manslaughter (causing the death of a person) following the death of a 25-year-old woman at his home. During the court hearing, the Chief Magistrate, Ms. Sarah Basemera, made the decision to block journalists from seeing what was happening. She locked herself in her chambers with Mr. Kirumira, some police officers, and the father of the deceased woman. This means the proceedings were kept private and away from public view. Kirumira is expected to officially respond to the charges brought against him regarding the woman's death.

CDF Muhoozi Checks Parade for Independence Day

The Chief of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, visited the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds today. General Kainerugaba was there to check on the final practice for the Independence Day parade. Soldiers from the UPDF, officers from the Police, and staff from the Uganda Prisons service were all practicing together for the joint parade. The parade is a major part of the upcoming celebrations for Uganda's 63rd Independence Day. The main event will take place soon at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Musician Alien Skin Arrested Over Dancer's Death.

Police have arrested the popular musician Alien Skin, whose real name is Patrick Mulwana. The arrest happened today, October 1, 2025. He was arrested in connection with the death of a man named Wilfred Namuwaya, who was also known as "Top Dancer." Top Dancer was a former member of the musician's group, Fangone Forest. Police confirmed that Alien Skin is currently at Katwe police station. He is there to have his official statement recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.

​KAMPALA – Traffic in Kampala is seeing some changes this week due to a major conference at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Delegates Conference, which runs from August 18th to August 28th, is bringing many people into the city, affecting how cars move around. ​To handle the extra traffic and keep things safe, police have set up a special plan. ​New Routes and Road Closures ​Main Way to the Conference: If you are a delegate going to the event, the main road is Ssezibwa Road to Golf Course Road/Fairway Road, leading to the grounds. ​Roads Still Open: Most of the regular traffic can still use roads like John Babiiha Road (Acacia Avenue) and Jinja Road with no problems. ​Roads Closed: Some roads near Kololo are closed to everyone except very important people (VVIPs). Seven Arrested in Fake Gold Scam.

Seven people have been arrested for tricking a Nigerian businessman in a fake gold scam. The arrests were made by a special government unit called the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) with help from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID). The suspects tricked a man named Mr. Mark Gbillah into giving them $70,000. They told him they could sell him seven kilograms of gold through two companies, Legacy Refinery Limited and Emerod Agency Limited. But the companies had no real gold. A senior officer from the unit, Mr. Bamwiine Muhorozi, said the suspects were caught because Mr. Gbillah reported the crime quickly. The unit set up a meeting with the scammers, and they were arrested before they could get more money. When police searched the suspects' home in Muyenga, they found about 150 kilograms of fake gold bars and fake gold nuggets. Mr. Bamwiine said this is not the first gold scam they have stopped. Armed Robbers Attacked Villages in Mukono and Wakiso, One Shot.

Mukono, Uganda – Early in the morning on July 27, 2025, at about 3:00 AM, a group of people armed with pangas (machetes) attacked several villages, robbing many residents. The attackers started their crimes in Nabweru, Mukono District. They then moved through Kyaliwajjala and Sonde in Wakiso, and later went to Seeta Town in Mukono. One of the arrested suspects admitted to this path. On their way back to Nabweru, they robbed another location at Namanve Industrial Park along the Kampala-Jinja highway. A group of motorcycle taxi drivers, known as boda-boda riders, began to chase them. They soon got help from officers at the Namanve Coca-Cola police post, who joined the pursuit. The police found the suspects parked behind KAWACOM Company in the industrial park. During a confrontation, one of the robbers, identified as Nsubuga, tried to attack a police officer. Kampala, Uganda – Police in Uganda have safely returned a young boy, 2.8-year-old Ivan Bent, to his parents today. Ivan was kidnapped from his mother in an area called Musajja Alumbwa. The person who took him was identified as Amani Jesteri, who then escaped to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Working with other security groups, the police managed to catch the suspect. They also successfully found Ivan, who was alive and well. Police officials praised their officers for acting quickly. Their fast response led to the suspect's arrest and the safe rescue of the child. The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges in court.

Police Stop Robbery, Recover Money in Kyotera.

Kyotera, Uganda – Yesterday, police officers in Kyotera stopped a serious robbery and recovered 50 million Ugandan shillings. Five armed robbers attacked the manager of Mazima Bugaga Coffee factory and stole the money. However, police officers quickly chased after the robbers. They caught up with them in Kizigo Village, which is on the road to Masaka. During a clash with the police, one of the robbers, Ssenyuumu Lawrence, was stopped. The other four robbers got away. The police found two guns, a motorcycle, and other items that were part of the crime. Police are now continuing to search for the robbers who escaped.

Police Learn New Ways to Help Children

  Kampala, Uganda – Senior police officer AIGP Bamunoba Ubaldo has started a special training program for police officers. This training, lasting five days, is happening at Unik Hotel in Kyaliwajala, Namugongo. The program is about "Diversion." This means finding new ways to help children who break minor laws, instead of sending them straight to court. The Child and Family Protection Department organized this training. The goal is to teach police officers how to work with young offenders in a way that helps them change and become good members of society again. This approach focuses on fixing the harm done and being kind to the children. AIGP Bamunoba asked the officers to take the training seriously. He wants them to help change how police stations deal with cases involving young people. He also said that police should work closely with others in the justice system to protect children from harm, bad labels, and upsetting experiences that can come from going to court.

Pastor Alloysious Bugingo Survives Attempted Murder.

The Old Kampala Police have initiated a thorough investigation into a tragic incident involving the attempted murder of Pastor Alloysious Bugingo from the House of Prayer Ministry and the unfortunate killing of his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard. The incident occurred at approximately 9 PM on January 2nd, 2024, when unidentified assailants opened fire on Pastor Bugingo's vehicle, registered as PRAIZ GOD, along Namungona, Zone 2, Kasubi Rubaga Division Kampala, at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road, before swiftly escaping the scene on a motorcycle. Despite sustaining injuries, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo managed to transport the vehicle to Mulago Hospital. Unfortunately, his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, succumbed to the assault and was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital. Rebel Attack on Ugandan Secondary School Leaves Dozens Dead.

  A rebel assault on a secondary school in southwestern Uganda has resulted in over 40 casualties, the majority of whom are students, according to sources in the security sector.  The attack took place on Friday night at Lhubirira Secondary School in Mpondwe, located approximately 2 km from the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).  The suspected rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) set fire to a school dormitory and ransacked a food store. Tragically, at least 17 students were burned to death.  The militants also abducted six students, coercing them to carry stolen food. Uganda's military spokesperson, Felix Kulayigye, affirmed that every effort would be made to locate and rescue the abducted students.  Eight students, who sustained critical injuries, are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
