Mukono, Uganda – Early in the morning on July 27, 2025, at about 3:00 AM, a group of people armed with pangas (machetes) attacked several villages, robbing many residents.
The attackers started their crimes in Nabweru, Mukono District. They then moved through Kyaliwajjala and Sonde in Wakiso, and later went to Seeta Town in Mukono. One of the arrested suspects admitted to this path.
On their way back to Nabweru, they robbed another location at Namanve Industrial Park along the Kampala-Jinja highway. A group of motorcycle taxi drivers, known as boda-boda riders, began to chase them. They soon got help from officers at the Namanve Coca-Cola police post, who joined the pursuit.
The police found the suspects parked behind KAWACOM Company in the industrial park. During a confrontation, one of the robbers, identified as Nsubuga, tried to attack a police officer. The officer shot Nsubuga in the waist and leg, stopping him.
Police also arrested two other suspects:
Asimwe Stephen, 26 years old
Musinga Musa, 22 years old
From Asimwe Stephen, police recovered three pangas and a motorcycle with registration number UGG 597Y. They also seized three smartphones from the suspects.
Nsubuga, who was shot, was taken to the hospital for medical care. Police are continuing their investigations.
