President Yoweri K. Museveni has shared his sadness over the death of Professor Kanyeihaamba, a well-known Ugandan.
President Museveni remembered first meeting Professor Kanyeihaamba at a famous debate at Makerere University. This was a long time ago, when Professor Mazrui and Dr. Rodney discussed important ideas about independence.
Later, during the 1981-86 war, Professor Kanyeihaamba worked with President Museveni in the UK as part of a special committee.
After Uganda became free, Professor Kanyeihaamba joined the NRM government. He served as a minister and even represented the people of Rubaanda. He later became a judge.
President Museveni praised Professor Kanyeihaamba's dedication to Uganda and the NRM. He sent his deepest sympathies to Professor Kanyeihaamba's family and friends.
"May his soul rest in eternal peace," the President said.
