AfroMedia Condemns Killing of Journalists in Gaza, Calls for UN Action.

AfroMedia, a group that supports journalism in Africa, has strongly criticized the killing of journalists in Gaza. The group says that what is happening is a serious violation of international laws designed to protect both civilians and media workers during wars.

In a recent statement, AfroMedia highlighted that over 240 journalists and media professionals have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023. This makes Gaza the most dangerous place in the world for journalists.

AfroMedia believes that targeting journalists is a deliberate effort to hide the truth about what is happening on the ground and to conceal crimes against civilians. The group stated that these actions are war crimes and that those responsible must be punished.

The organization is calling on the United Nations (UN) and other international bodies to take urgent steps. This includes officially condemning the attacks, starting an international investigation, and allowing independent media teams into Gaza to report on the situation.

AfroMedia stressed that the death of so many journalists is a loss for press freedom and for the public's right to know the truth. The group called on other media and human rights organizations to join them in pressuring for an end to the violence.
