UNEB Assures Minister That National Exams Are Ready to Go.

Kampala, Uganda – The Minister for Higher Education, Hon. J.C. Muyingo, met with the head of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Mr. Dan Odongo, this morning. The Minister and other top officials from the Ministry of Education wanted to check on UNEB’s readiness to hold the upcoming national examinations. Mr. Odongo assured the Minister that everything is set and there are no signs of any problems or delays that would stop the exams from happening. The Minister thanked all the teachers across the country. He praised them for their professionalism and for showing up to supervise the examinations, according to the reports he received.

Top Muslim Council Approves New Rules for Better Governance.

OLD KAMPALA — The Shuura Council of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has adopted a new set of rules to guide its work. The Council, which met at the UMSC headquarters, passed the Draft Rules of Procedure to make its operations clearer and stronger, following the UMSC Constitution. Key Details of the New Rules:  * What Guides Them: The Council's decisions will be guided by the Holy Qur’an, Hadith, and practices that agree with Islamic Law (Shariah).  * Secrecy: All meetings will be held in private, and everything discussed must remain strictly confidential. No one can share what was said without everyone's agreement.  * Where They Meet: Meetings will happen at the UMSC headquarters in Old Kampala.  * Decision Making: A large majority (three-quarters) of the 21 members must be present for a meeting to start. Nebbi Gets Ready for President Museveni's Big Rally

NEBBI — The political group, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), in Nebbi District has finished its final planning meeting for a big event. President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled to hold a campaign rally there tomorrow. The people in charge of the campaign in Nebbi met today to make sure everything is ready. Large Crowds Expected Phiona Nyamutoro, who is the State Minister for Mineral Development and is also running for Nebbi Woman MP under the NRM, said that all the work to get people to attend has been completed. After the meeting, Minister Nyamutoro told reporters that they met with local NRM leaders to plan the best way to bring people to the rally, especially since it is in the morning. "We want to send a clear message that Nebbi District is firmly behind President Museveni," she said. The leaders expect large crowds and a lot of excitement tomorrow.   Ugandan musician Sheebah Karungi is celebrating a huge success! Her popular song, "Somebody," has hit an incredible milestone: 4 million views on YouTube! What's even more impressive is that the song reached this huge number in just two months. Sheebah shared her excitement with a message to her fans, thanking them and calling them "my lovers." She also used the hashtag #Grateful to show how thankful she is for their support. Sheebah asked her fans to keep streaming, viewing, and sharing the song so they can keep the momentum going. This fast success shows that "Somebody" is a big hit with listeners around the world! 

UCE Exams Start Now

Good news for students in Uganda! The big 2025 Examinations have officially begun. It all kicked off with a meeting, called a briefing, for students taking the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). These students are the first ones to start the examination period. What Happened at the Briefing? Students met with their HeadTeachers (school principals) who explained everything about the exams. They went over the rules and instructions in the official timetable. This is to make sure everyone knows how to act and what to expect when they sit for their tests. The exams will take place at 4,308 Centers across the country, so many schools are involved! The Exam Theme The board in charge of the exams is using the same theme as last year. It is: “Embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment." This means they want to keep the exams safe and fair for everyone. Abryanz Launches New 'AB LEGACY COLLECTION'

A designer, known only as "Abryanz," has launched a new clothing line called the "AB LEGACY COLLECTION." The designer shared their deep thanks and said the new line is much more than just clothes. It is a reflection of their "dreams, hard work, and faith." The designer said they went through a journey of laughter, tears, and deep reflection while creating the collection, and they thanked God for guiding the process. The designer sees this launch as the start of a "new era" and a "legacy" they are building with their supporters. The good news for fans is that 80% of the collection is already available to buy in stores. Shoppers who prefer to buy online will only have to wait a little longer, as the official online shop will open next week. The designer expressed excitement and gratitude to everyone who is part of this "incredible story."

Campaign Review: EC, Candidates and Police Meet for Peaceful Elections

The Electoral Commission (EC) held an important meeting today to look back at the first week of election campaigning. The meeting brought together representatives from all eight Presidential Candidates and officials from the Uganda Police Force. The main point of the discussion was to review any new problems that have come up and to make sure the campaigns remain peaceful and follow the law. They also checked that all campaign activities are sticking to the agreed-upon schedule and election rules. After the talks, all groups—the candidates, the police, and the EC—agreed on an important point: any concerns or disagreements during the campaign must be solved through talking and discussion, not fighting or confrontation. The Electoral Commission thanked everyone for working together, saying that their cooperation is helping to ensure the election process is smooth and believable.

Bobi Wine Holds Rally in Mubende After Police Block

The National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu also known as Bobi Wine held a large rally in Mubende today, but only after facing problems with the police. The group said that they were stopped by police barricades (roadblocks) on their way to the place they had planned to hold the meeting, which was inside Mubende Municipality. Because of the roadblocks, the group had to quickly find a new location. They ended up holding the rally at a different venue far away from the town center. A spokesperson for the group complained that the police stopped them from reaching their first destination. Despite the change of venue, the rally was well-attended. The group thanked the people of Mubende for coming out in large numbers to support their message, which they call a "protest vote cause." This "protest vote" is a sign of public disagreement with the current government.

President Appoints New Anti-Corruption Chief.

President Yoweri Museveni has named a new leader for Uganda's anti-corruption body, the Inspectorate of Government (IGG). Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala has been chosen as the new Inspector General of Government. She replaces the former IGG, Hon. Beti Olive Namisango Kamya. Justice Batala is a High Court Judge who previously worked as a prosecutor for many years at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). In the same change, the two Deputy IGGs, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and Mrs. Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, will keep their jobs. The President has now sent the names of all three appointees to the Parliament of Uganda. The Parliament must approve the appointments before the new IGG and her deputies can officially start their work.

CDF Muhoozi Checks Parade for Independence Day

The Chief of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, visited the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds today. General Kainerugaba was there to check on the final practice for the Independence Day parade. Soldiers from the UPDF, officers from the Police, and staff from the Uganda Prisons service were all practicing together for the joint parade. The parade is a major part of the upcoming celebrations for Uganda's 63rd Independence Day. The main event will take place soon at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Musician Alien Skin Arrested Over Dancer's Death.

Police have arrested the popular musician Alien Skin, whose real name is Patrick Mulwana. The arrest happened today, October 1, 2025. He was arrested in connection with the death of a man named Wilfred Namuwaya, who was also known as "Top Dancer." Top Dancer was a former member of the musician's group, Fangone Forest. Police confirmed that Alien Skin is currently at Katwe police station. He is there to have his official statement recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.

President Museveni Gets Huge Welcome at Dokolo Rally.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni received a massive, heroic welcome today at the Dokolo Technical School playgrounds. Thousands of people gathered to see the NRM Presidential Flagbearer at his second rally of the day. The President is set to speak about the NRM Manifesto for the period 2026–2031. His main message will be the need to protect all the good progress and achievements Uganda has made under the NRM government. Upon arrival, the President was warmly greeted by top NRM officials. These included the Party’s Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Right Honourable Annet Anita Among, the Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Honourable Hamson Obua, and the NRM Secretary General, Right Honourable Richard Todwong, along with other senior party leaders.

MP Sseggona to Run as Independent in 2026.

MP Sseggona to Run as Independent in 2026 Medard Lubega Sseggona, the Member of Parliament for Busiro East, has decided to run in the next election as an independent candidate. This decision comes after he lost the chance to be the flag bearer for the National Unity Platform (NUP) party. The party chose Mathias Walukagga for the position instead. Mr. Sseggona announced his choice after a meeting with his supporters. The meeting was held at his home in Nakasozi, which is in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District. He will now compete in the 2026 General Election without a political party's symbol.

Huge Crowds Stop Traffic to Welcome Presidential Candidate.

Business and traffic have completely stopped on the main road between Tororo and Jinja! Huge crowds of people have flooded the Tororo - Jinja road to welcome the presidential candidate, Right Honourable Nathan Nandala Mafabi. The crowd is so large that traffic cannot move easily. Mr. Nandala Mafabi is scheduled to speak to his many supporters today. He will hold rallies in several places, including:  * Namungalwe  * Nambale  * Nawandala  * Nakalama  * Iganga town The big turnout shows strong support for the candidate in the area.

President Museveni Starts Campaign in Lango Region.

President Yoweri Museveni has kicked off his campaign in the Lango sub-region today! The President, who is the main candidate for the NRM party, arrived at the Amolatar Secondary School playgrounds for his first rally. He was welcomed by many important NRM leaders. This included members of the party's top committee, the Secretariat team led by the Secretary General, Rt Hon Richard Todwong, as well as Members of Parliament (MPs) and local leaders. Later, President Museveni spoke to the massive crowd. He used both English and the local Lango language, which the crowd enjoyed very much. He used Lango words like:  * Kuc (meaning peace)  * Can (meaning poverty)  * Dongo lobo (meaning development)  * Lonyo (meaning wealth) Most importantly, the local leaders thanked the President. They gave him high praise for bringing peace to their area. The rally focused on securing the good things the region has achieved.

Uganda and Russia to Hold Big Meeting Next Week.

Uganda and Russia will hold their third big meeting about working together on money, science, and technology. This meeting will happen on October 7th and 8th, 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo. Uganda's Ambassador to Russia, Amb. Moses Kizige, spoke about the strong friendship between the two countries. He said that Uganda and Russia have been close friends since the 1960s. He noted that over 20 agreements are being worked on to help with trade, health, defense, education, and jobs. Ambassador Kizige also stressed that the countries want to work together more on turning farm products and minerals into higher-value goods (value addition). Russia's Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Vladlen Semivolos, agreed that the friendship is very important. He mentioned agreements already signed in areas like education, health, farming, and job training. Uganda Gets Important Seat on Global Aviation Council.

The country has secured a seat on the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ICAO is a top global group that manages air travel around the world. The election happened at a big meeting in Montreal, Canada. Many countries voted. Uganda won the seat for the three-year period, from 2025 to 2028. It was a tough competition, but Uganda did very well. Out of 185 countries that voted, Uganda got 155 votes! The team from Uganda at the meeting was led by the Minister of Works and Transport, General Wamala. Other important people there included the Ugandan High Commissioner to Canada, Amb. Allan Kajik, and the head of Uganda’s aviation body (UCAA), Mr. Fred Bamwesigye. This ICAO Council is the top group that makes all the rules and standards for flying planes safely everywhere. Having a seat means Uganda will now help make decisions that affect air travel all over the globe.

Uganda and Rwanda Border Officials Train Together.

Something good happened at the border between Uganda and Rwanda! Border officials from Uganda's immigration office  and Rwanda's immigration office had a joint training. This happened on September 29th and 30th, 2025. The training took place at the Mirama Hills and Kagitumba border posts in Ntungamo District, Uganda. These are called "One-Stop Border Posts" because they make crossing easier. To finish the training, the border communities from both countries played a friendly football match! The main special guest was Mariam Kagaiga Mugisha Mbaze, the top government representative for Ntungamo District (RDC). During the event, officials also talked to local people. They asked everyone to please use the official border posts when crossing. They warned against using unofficial, risky paths. This joint event helped officials work together better and brought the communities closer.

New Health Workers Get Training in 8 Districts.

The government has started training new health workers in eight districts. These special workers are called Community Health Extension Workers, or CHEWs. The districts are: Bukedea, Bunyangabu, Kakumiro, Kalungu, Kassanda, Kisoro, Mbale, and Mitooma. After their training, these CHEWs will get important tools to help people in their communities. Each worker will get:  * A bicycle to help them travel easily.  * A smartphone or tablet to collect and share health information.  * A blood pressure machine to check blood pressure.  * A glucometer to check blood sugar levels.  * A MUAC tape to check for nutrition problems.  * Gum boots and a jacket so people can easily know who they are. This training and equipment is part of the government's plan to make health services better in every parish. It shows the government is serious about improving health right where people live.
