At the meeting, everyone agreed that President Museveni should be the one to lead the party and run for president. In a speech, President Museveni said thank you to the people who chose him. He said, "I thank you for putting trust in me to be your chairman of the NRM... and for electing me as the party flagbearer for the presidential contest." UNBS Seals Off Two Companies for Selling Bad Tarpaulins.

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has taken quick action after a complaint about small tarpaulins went viral on social media. UNBS officials inspected two companies, Modern Agro Investments Limited and Namanve Tarpaulin Weaving Limited. They found that both companies were making, selling, and had tarpaulins that were too small and had incorrect labels. This goes against the Uganda Standard US EAS 1073:2022 and the UNBS Act. As a result, UNBS has sealed off both companies. UNBS encourages people to report any suspected products that do not meet standards. New AI Project Launched for Mental Health.

A new and exciting project has started to help people with their mental health. An AI mental health call center was launched today at Butabika hospital. The project will use computers and smart technology to improve the hospital's mental health call center. The hope is that more people will be able to get help, and it will be easier for the hospital staff to do their work. This is a joint project between Makerere University, Butabika Hospital, and a hospital in Tanzania called Mirembe Mental Health Hospital. Many important people came to the launch event. MUBS Officials' Court Hearing Adjourned.

The court case against former Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Principal Professor Waswa Balunywa and Chief Quality Assurance Officer Jacqueline Namaganda has been postponed. The next hearing is set for August 21, 2025. Both Balunywa and Namaganda are facing charges of abuse of office and neglect of duty. The charges stem from allegations that they improperly hired staff who were not qualified for their positions in 2023.

Seven Arrested in Fake Gold Scam.

Seven people have been arrested for tricking a Nigerian businessman in a fake gold scam. The arrests were made by a special government unit called the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) with help from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID). The suspects tricked a man named Mr. Mark Gbillah into giving them $70,000. They told him they could sell him seven kilograms of gold through two companies, Legacy Refinery Limited and Emerod Agency Limited. But the companies had no real gold. A senior officer from the unit, Mr. Bamwiine Muhorozi, said the suspects were caught because Mr. Gbillah reported the crime quickly. The unit set up a meeting with the scammers, and they were arrested before they could get more money. New Rules for Stadium Visitors.

A stadium has announced new rules for everyone who comes to watch a game. The new rules are to keep everyone safe and happy. You can no longer bring certain things into the stadium. Kampala to Get UGX 550 Billion for Roads and Drainage.

Kampala, Uganda – Over the next three years, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) will receive 550 billion Ugandan shillings from the government to improve roads and drainage systems in the city. The money will be used to upgrade, rebuild, and fix roads and drainage facilities. The work will be done by the company Dott Services ltd. The first part of the project will cover 14.65 kilometers and include 24 roads. These roads are located in different parts of Kampala, including: Kabaka’s Lake Road and Mapeera Road in Rubaga Division. Kalinabiri Road in Nakawa Division. Golf Course Road, Duster Street, and Lower Kololo Terrace in Central Division. Nsamba Road and St Stephen Hospital Ring Road in Kawempe Division. St Barnabas Road in Makindye Division.
